If whitney bought 3 shirts for 24.99 and sales tax was 7.5% what was the total cost of the purchase including sales tax?

    well, 24.99 + tax, tax is 7.5% of 24.99 meaning, 24.99 is the 100% if 24.99 is the 100%, what's 7.5% of that? well \(\bf \begin{array}{ccllll} amount&\% \\\hline\\ 24.99&100\\ x&7.5 \end{array}\implies \cfrac{24.99}{x}=\cfrac{100}{7.5} \)
