do like this: |4x-8|-3x=6x+2 4x-3x-8=6x+2 Now we do something kind of crazy here: 4x-3x-6x-8+8=6x-6x8+2 -x=10 x=10 \m/ is there any questions, please ask :)

dont you have to split, into pos and neg sides

one approach is to leave the modulus on one side and everything else to the other. now split into the 2 equations and solve each. find the combined solution.

Let's break it down :) |4x-8|-3x=6x+2 4x-8-3x=6x+2 ( after kick out that ugly \[\left| \right|\] I set up like this 4x-3x-8=6x+2 Now we do something kind of crazy here: Since we know all of it, we'll: x-8=6x+2 ( results after I had rewrite those number) x-8+8=6x+2-8 x=6x-6 x-6x=-6 -5x=-6 x=6 over 5 ( sr for the answer earlier, wrong calculating... :( ) now :) does it make more sense?

do like I do :) I kick out the absolute value :) it stay the same way :) then you just solve for x :)

    |4x-8|-3x=6x+2 4x-8-3x=6x+2 or 4x-8-3x=-(6x+2) 4x-3x-8=6x+2 4x-3x-8=-6x-2 -x-8=6x+2 -x-8=-6x-2 -8=5x+2 -8=-5x-2 -10=5x -6=-5x -2=x 6 over 5=x
