Bovine wouldn't make sense, because it means placidity, or dullness, which doesn't match tenacious at all. Capricious relates to having unpredictable behaviour, which doesn't seem to match either. Earnest can mean honest, but it can also mean showing "serious or intense conviction" which seems like it may match. Desultory means lacking enthusiasm, so definitely not that. Tortuous definitely doesn't match either.
