    (2x - 3)(x + 4) = (2x)*(x) + (2x)*(4) + (-1)*(3)*(x) + (-1)*(3)*(4) ^ that results in 2 x^2 s ^ that results in 2 by 4 of x's ^ results in 3 negative x's ^ results in 3 by 4 of -1's

    http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/5616e0e3e4b07ab19da675e7-marshmellowe-1444341177803-question3.png just adding up all the blocks, you get -x^2 + 2x - 3x + 6 looking at the options: A: (2-x)(x-3) = 2x - 6 - x^2 + 3x = -x^2 + 2x + 3x - 6 but these two signs aren't right ^ ^ B: (2-x)(x+3) = 2x + 6 - x^2 - 3x = -x^2 + 2x - 3x + 6 C: (2-x)(3-x) = 6 - 2x - 3x + x^2 = x^2 - 2x - 3x + 6 but these two signs ^ ^ aren't right D: (x-2)(x-3) = x^2 - 3x - 2x + 6 = x^2 - 2x - 3x + 6 but these two signs ^ ^ aren't right
