    these are generated by jerking the rope at the other end while holding at an end ....... the pieces move perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave >>>>>>>

    as the rope moves the energy of the power that you transmit to the rope from moving the rope up and down or side to side causes the waves of energy to transverse from one end to another which is how transverse waves work on a rope
