2. calculusxy

In the figure above, x = A. 25 B. 65 C. 155 D. 160 E. 165

@Hero

6. Nnesha

|dw:1444596179995:dw| find angle a

7. calculusxy

I got 155

8. calculusxy

9. Nnesha

hmm try again show ur work :=) remember vertical angles are equal

10. calculusxy

70 - 25 = 65 angle A = 65

11. Nnesha

right but how did you get 155 ?

12. Hero

Next time, start off your question this way:" For the final answer, I got . .."

15. Nnesha

hmm no |dw:1444596575498:dw| opposite angles a = b vertical angles are a and b

16. Nnesha

if a =65 then b =5 |dw:1444596672173:dw| now you can find x

17. Nnesha

b=65*

18. Nnesha

brb

19. calculusxy

how would be equal to 5?

20. calculusxy

sorry *be => b

21. math&ing001

@calculusxy 155 is correct |dw:1444596953526:dw|

22. Nnesha

that was a typo b= 65**

23. Kainui

|dw:1444596840551:dw| This might be _too_ tricky, but here's what I did. The way I did it is we have two triangles so we can set up two equations: $90+25+a = 180$$90+x+a=180$ Then I subtract one equation from the other to get: $25-x=0$$25=x$

24. calculusxy

wait. so i am correct?

25. Nnesha

|dw:1444597034452:dw| wait x is an angle right ?

26. calculusxy

no x is the exterior angle

27. calculusxy

|dw:1444597077781:dw|

28. Nnesha

aw i see sorry i thought x is an angle ...

29. Kainui

Oh whoops well 180-that answer I gave then haha. Oh well. I feel like I'm contributing to confusion here, so I'll head out.

30. calculusxy

no problem :) i welcome as many contributions as possible :)
