you try to get the variable by itself, yes, by using pemdas, but pemdas is useful mainly when you're trying to simplify a single equation
so you would focus on getting the variable by itself, which in this case is x
so 10-15x "=" 5x - 12
in order to get a variable by itself, you have to try to get rid of something I want to get rid of the -12, so I will add 12 to get 0. But in order to do that, I will need to add 12 on the other side as well, so I can still keep the "equation" equal
