You have to plug each one into the appropriate equation for the function. The function you have in your attached file tells you where it is defined.

Now if you plug each one into its appropriate equation you will get the answers.

How do I know which is the appropriate one?

Lets look at it this way. The first line reads 2x+1 if -2
KJ4UTS
  • KJ4UTS
@JosephTheAusom so -1 would work for that one
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes negative one would work for that part. You just plug it in and solve

I got -1 for f(-1) it looks like f(-2) would be undefined then?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Yes exactly.

  • KJ4UTS
would f(1) work in 3x-2?
KJ4UTS
  • KJ4UTS
since its 1 <= x <2
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes because it use <= which means it includes the value. I think you are catching on.

For f(1) I got 1 for f(0) im a little confused where that one goes would it be the 3x^2+2 the reason I ask is because 0
KJ4UTS
  • KJ4UTS
@JosephTheAusom Does this look right? f(-2) = undefined f(-1) = -1 f(0) = 2 f(1) = 1
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok all of those are right except f(0). You had that one correct in the previous post. And reasoning for it was spot on in that post too. It should be f(0)=1
KJ4UTS
  • KJ4UTS
so f(0) =1 and f(1)= 1 too?
KJ4UTS
  • KJ4UTS
so in this problem we don't use 3x^2+2

  • KJ4UTS
Oh ok I see it now I use the first formula thanks for you help :)
