Which of the following essay prompts would require writing a persuasive essay? A Day in the Life of an American Teenager My First Camping Trip Build Playgrounds, Not Shopping Malls When I Got Lost at the Mall
Tennistar

The third option, because you are trying to convince the audience to build playgrounds and not shopping malls. A persuasive essay goal is to persuade the audience.

. Yet, trying not to disappoint it, one felt guilty of treachery: What was the good, the kindness, in making this poor bird flutter still with hope against the bars, when fast prison had so surely closed in round her? But what else could we do? We could not give her those glib assurances that naive souls make so easily to others concerning their after state.

But it was long before our hearts, wandering with poor Herd, would let us remember that she had slipped away into so beautiful a dream.

Hmm. I'm not an expert on interpreting, but I'd say "Yet, trying not to disappoint it, one felt guilty of treachery: What was the good, the kindness, in making this poor bird flutter still with hope against the bars, when fast prison had so surely closed in round her? But what else could we do? We could not give her those glib assurances that naive souls make so easily to others concerning their after state." makes the most sense. I'm not entirely sure about this one though.

Maria is writing a persuasive essay for her English class. She asks Marshall if it is important to use rhetorical appeals in her essay. Which reasons could Marshall give in favor of using rhetorical appeals? They evoke an emotional response from readers. They dazzle readers with the writer’s depth of knowledge. They help the writer avoid seeming biased to readers. They appeal to readers’ sense of logic. They discredit a paper that presents a contrary opinion.

Well, rhetorical appeals fall into the category of ethos, which appeal to emotions of the audience. So I'd say the most logical choice is the first answer.

For a right understanding of the life of my dear friend, Charlotte Brontë, it appears to me more necessary in her case than in most others, that the reader should be made acquainted with the peculiar forms of population and society amidst which her earliest years were passed, and from which both her own and her sisters’ first impressions of human life must have been received. I shall endeavour, therefore, before proceeding further with my work, to present some idea of the character of the people of Haworth, and the surrounding districts. Which statement best conveys the central idea of the excerpt? Charlotte Brontë was a dear friend to the author and lived a fascinating life. The people of Haworth and the surrounding districts were all interested in arts and literature. To understand Charlotte Brontë, one needs to understand the society in which she grew up. The people who lived near and inspired the writer Charlotte Brontë were all unique and intriguing.
