The Texian Army, also known as The Army of the People, was a military organization consisting of volunteer and regular soldiers who fought against the Mexican army during the Texas Revolution. Approximately 3,700 men joined the army between October 2, 1835 during the Battle of Gonzales through the end of the war on April 21, 1836, at the Battle of San Jacinto.

The new Texas government had no funds, so the military was granted the authority to impress supplies. This policy soon resulted in an almost universal hatred of the Council, as food and supplies became scarce, especially in the areas around Goliad and Béxar, where Texian troops were stationed.[110] Few of the volunteers agreed to join Houston's regular army

Velasco took place on June 26, 1832. It started with John Austin and his men sailing down the Brazos towards the Gulf of Mexico but they were stopped by Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea once they reached Velasco. He refused to let them pass so fighting broke out between them. As a result of the Battle of Velasco there were ten Texan casualties and five Mexican casualties. On June 29, 1836 the Mexicans had run out of ammunition and were forced to surrender and were also ordered to return to Mexico.

I just found this after a little digging After five days of hard fighting, the bloody struggle finally came to a close, when General Cos ordered his men to lay down their arms and hoist the white flag. According to the terms of surrender, the General agreed to turn over all the money, supplies, arms, and property held by the Mexicans. He also pledged to never again oppose the Constitution of 1824. In exchange, Cos was permitted to lead his soldiers out of Texas.
