you need to factor x^2 + x - 6 and x^2 + 5x + 4 for the first one you need 2 numbers whose product is -6 and whose sum = + 1 these are + 3 and - 2 so x^2 + x - 6 = (x + 3)(x - 2) similarly x^2 + 5x + 4 = (x + 1)(x + 4)

to divide the 2 fractions you invert the second one and multiply then you cancel out the common factors (x -2) and (x + 4)
