for the 1st question set s(t) = 50 so you have the equation \[50 = -16t^2 +70t + 3\] now rewrite the equation as \[16t^2 - 70t + 47 = 0\] solve for t using the general quadratic formula... hope that helps

Yeah I got that far... I just tried plugging it in and it didnt come out right.

the 2nd question.... if you let the ratio be x:7x which is in the ratio 1:7 then the area is \[A = x \times 7x~~~or~~~A = 7x^2\] you know the area so \[2720 = 7x^2\] solve for x and only use the positive answer... so x would be the width, multiply it by 7 to get the length. hope that helps

ok... question 2 I mis-read... the raatio is 1.7 to 1 so let 1 side b3 a, the other side is 1.7a the area is A = 1.7a x a so \[A = 1.7x^2\] now solve
Allieeslabae
  • Allieeslabae
Is it D?
campbell_st
