\[x = \frac{ -(-9) \pm \sqrt{-9^2 - 4(5)(-2)} }{ 2(5) } = \frac{ 9 \pm \sqrt{81 + 400} }{ 10 }\]

\[x = \frac{ 9 \pm \sqrt{481} }{ 10 }\] 481 is not a perfect square root that's why we should leave it in the radical sign.

what is the product? if you can find two other terms which add to -9x and multiply to give the product (-10x^2) then you can write as a product of binomials. see if you can find two terms which sum to -9x and whose product is -10x^2

You multiply the a and the c term 5 x 2 = -10 list out the factors of -10 1 , -10 -1 , 10 -2, 5 2, -5 figure out the pairs that equal to the b term (-9) -10 + 1 = -9 now you would have: x - 10 + 1 - 2
