for example if u have this- |-3| then this will equal 3
and if u have this ->|3|

add 10 to both sides u get this-
|5x + 3| = 13
now we know that |-13|=13 and |13|=13
so 5x+3=-13 or 5x+3=13
so x=-3.2 or x=2
