I haven't studied this, but is it something like approximation of an integral by splitting into trapeziums and calculating the area?

OK, and I'm guessing that we're splitting [0,1] into four trapeziums.

I got the answer. I had to take x1,x2,x3,x4 as x+h,x+2h,x+3h..thanks guys :) I was mistaking this with h=1
