The processes that form sedimentary rocks sort the raw materials by size. When sand, silt, and clay are carried down a river and enter the ocean, sand drops out of suspension first, then silt, then clay. The coarser grained material is deposited nearer the shore and the sediment gets finer and finer as you move further into the ocean. So it's definitely not B. What do you think it is?

Just in case you don't know what a sieve is it's a utensil with a frame, that strains solids from liquids, for separating coarser from finer particles, or for reducing soft solids to a pulp.
