? What is the purpose of this letter? to bring some recent developments to light to support recent actions by the recipient to request that the recipient join an initiative to argue against an action by the recipient Done Dear Ms. Coleman: Grove High School had an outstanding year. The student council planned activities that raised not only school spirit but also student awareness of community issues. We had a successful Spirit Week before the annual teacher-student flag football game. The student carnival during homecoming was a huge hit. Student council fundraising efforts on behalf of the American Red Cross collected more than $4,000 for disaster relief. In addition, the council supported the parents' Balanced Diet program to include healthier foods in the school cafeteria menu. However, there is one school issue that is at odds with the council's efforts this year. It is our understanding that Grove High School will allow vending companies to install snack and soda machines in the school. This decision seems to take the opposite direction from the focus the school has placed on providing nutritious alternatives to junk food. We know how these vending companies work. They are motivated by making profits for their shareholders, not by providing nutritional foods for us students. Please reconsider the decision to allow these machines into our school. Sincerely, James A. Brown
