what have you tried so far?

I'm trying to set it up, I've put 3.4=log(x) but I don't know what to put for x?? It says x = ratio of earthquake intensity to a minimum level of intensity. what does that mean?
adamgrimm
  • adamgrimm
well the lowest level of intensity in a earthquake is obviously 0 and the highest to date was a 9.5 on the richter scale in shile in 1960, but im not sure if that would help much

An earthquake with the rating of 3.4 can cause destruction in areas up to 100 kilometers that are populated. Does that have any clues in that?
PrincessAurora
  • PrincessAurora
I tried to put 100 as x..but that was wrong
adamgrimm
  • adamgrimm
depending on how populated but that isnt in the question so let me think for a second
adamgrimm
  • adamgrimm
well 100 kilometers equal up to 62.1371 miles which if you round up would equal 63 miles or 62 in a half
PrincessAurora
  • PrincessAurora
so should I make a ratio out of that to find x?
