Is this composite, like (fog)(x)?
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
So there is a definite answer? Because (fog)(x) would be 2(x-1)^2 + 3 But where would we go from there?

Yeah, that's whats confusing. No x nor y value was given in the problem

how do we solve it?
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
The inside equation is g(x) if that's what you meant
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
That I don't know because variables amounts weren't giving. It's like saying y=x, what is x. Not enough was given

Just to make sure, f(x) is 1/(x+1) and g(x) is 3x+1?

1/3x+2?
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
If so, to find (fog)(x), aka f(g(x)), you plug in g(x) where ever you see an x in f(x) So, 1/((3x+1)+1) as your composite function. To find an answer, an X value needs to be given, so you can plug that into x and find your answer

i dont get it?
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
In other words, in terms of composite functions, this is impossible to solve because information is insufficient
