you have the equation y-4 = 3(x-1) the best way to start is to rewrite it so it looks like y= mx+b start by expanding the brackets then add 4 to each side write your new equation here...

3(x-1) distribute the 3 by multiplying the terms inside the brackets this is a prerequisite of this question -
3x - 3
ok good so y-4 = 3x-3 now add 4 to each side of the equation
y = 3x-7
no you need to ADD 4 to each side

ok - good so now you have rewrittenthe original equation to y = 3x+1 (it is the SAME equation - just re arranged) So you are studying straight line equations what do you know about the 'slope intercept' equation y=mx+b
the slope of the line is 3 and the y-intercept is 1 ...
excellent - so just looking at the graphs - which has an intyercept of +1? when you know - just check that it's slope is 3 then that is you answer
