If the parabola is turned sideways, would it be because it's y = or would it be because it's x =

X ?

Correct, so that eliminates two of the answers. Now we just need to find out if it's negative or positive.

Let's think about original parabolas first. X^2 would be positive and -X^2 would be negative right? It's positive because we are looking for Y= and when the Y is positive, it's above the X axis, making the parabola above the X axis also. When it's negative, that makes the parabola under the X-axis, which is the negative values Same things for x = parabolas Which do you think it is? Why would it be?

so its negative making it y=-3x^2?????
FortyTheRapper
  • FortyTheRapper
Correct, because -x values are on the left side of the graph, and positive x's are on the right side. Good job

No, it was the right way but insted of y=-3x^2 the y in this equation is no what needs to be looked at its the place where x is the coefficient , making it C. x = -3y2

Aw damn, I didn't see that. I saw we said it was x= the first time, but I didn't realize the y= switch, mb. I still thought you were with x=
