What is it touching then..?

Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
It's in middle of 1200 and 1300...
anonymous
  • anonymous
Yea, so try 1250km
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Okay, but am I correct with the other parts, Am I reading this correctly?
anonymous
  • anonymous
It looks like a bit more than 1250 km. Like 1260 km. Did you try it?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Okay.... What do you mean? Try it?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Okay, but am I correct with the other parts, Am I reading this correctly? There is only one question you posted...

Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
How is it 1min? It's right next to each other...
anonymous
  • anonymous
8:06 is is eight pm and 6 minute. Like your clock. 8:07 is right pm and 7 minute. Same as what you did in the last chart.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Oh. Okay. What about the last part, I think it is 600km
anonymous

Me too

Last part
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I think it is talking about these cities Dallas, Texas San diego, California Helena, Montana
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I think it should look like this...
anonymous
  • anonymous
You would need to draw 3 circles using a compass Use the distance you got for San Diego. Pinpoint San Diego and use the scale bar for its radius and circle around it. Do the same for the 2 other cities. Your work you showed me was incorrect. The 3 circles should intersect at 1 point which is the epicenter.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I don't understand how they could intercept.. Can you show me please?
anonymous
  • anonymous
What is your distance for San Diego?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Distance? What do you mean?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Like this..?
anonymous
  • anonymous
The exercise you did earlier. All of the practice problems are related to another as a whole for this lab.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Nope that is wrong. Stop doing them and just answer my questions.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
600km for San Diego 1,260km for Helena 1100km for Dallas
anonymous
  • anonymous
Correct. Do you see the scale bar at the bottom. Do you know what a radius of a circle is?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
^^ is what you are asking, right? Sorry I'm not being very helpful. I suck at this.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
And no..
anonymous
  • anonymous
Look at your map. Do you see a kilometer with rectangles and number in the bottom?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Yes.. I see them
anonymous
  • anonymous
|dw:1450059179749:dw| Radius is a line in the circle that extends from the center. All of the radius length in a circle is the same. Do you have a compass?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
No..
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Do I NEED a compass? or can I work without one?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Preferably. But who cares. Just use a ruler or finger. Point to San Diego right now. Stretch your fingers to 600 km using the scale bar. This 600 km is your radius. So the circle around Sand Diego should have a 600 km radius.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I have to do the drawing on the computer, so I can't really use my finger
anonymous
  • anonymous
Touch it on your screen?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Uh..Okay. What next
anonymous
  • anonymous
You never used a scale bar before?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
No, not really
anonymous
  • anonymous
Draw the 2 remaining cities.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Wait, I didn't finish the san diego one yet..
anonymous
  • anonymous
Did you follow my steps?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Yes..And this is what I got
anonymous
  • anonymous
Tell me how you did this
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I just went around tnhe san diego part after finding 600km part...
anonymous
  • anonymous
I explained to you what a radius is. Did you understand that?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I didn't see you explaining a radius.. I might have missed your message, give a me a sec and scroll up and look at it..

  • anonymous
No need to draw the lines though.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Like this? ;-;
anonymous
  • anonymous
Yes. Do the same for the other two. The circles should have an intersection point which is the epicenter of the earthquake.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Like this?
anonymous
  • anonymous
No. Do what I told you earlier. Dallas and Helena should in the middle of the circle.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
like so?
anonymous
  • anonymous
How did you draw out the circle for San Diego?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
I measured the Demo graph you showed me with a ruler, and it showed around 3 inches away from San diego to start the circle.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Then do the same for other 2 cities. Helena has 1250km Dallas with 1100
anonymous
  • anonymous
Those are your radius. Now do you know what a radius in a circle is?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
It's the distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle..?
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes.
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Which part amI supposed to start from when I have figured the distance part..?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
@Shalante I'm never going to get the other two correct. ;-; Can you please just show me how..?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
WAIT! I think i got it @Shalante
anonymous
  • anonymous
What is the distance for Helena, Montana?
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
The distance is 1,260km for Helena 1100km for Dallas
anonymous
  • anonymous
so 1260 km is radius for helena and 1100 km is the radius for dallas
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Yes, So After we have all that figured out. What next? I don't understand how I am supposed to get the circle correct
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
@Shalante
Ms-Brains
  • Ms-Brains
Last attempt I have in me. :(
anonymous
  • anonymous
Radius is 1260km for helena and radius 1100km for dallas. In your circle every radius does not look the same from dallas or helena.
