the vertex is half way between focus and directrix if we make the directrix 0, we halve the required part of the focus to determine its vertex

we modified the y parts, so we keep the x parts the same and work with the ys f= -3,4 ; y=2 -2 -2 ------------ f=-3,2; y=0 ^ v=-3,2/2 v= -3,1; y=0 +2 +2 <- moving things back ------------ v=-3,3; y=2
