Basically you have to do the same thing to both sides because you need to get the x by itself. So in this case divide by 9: 9x>36 9/9x>36/9 x>4

Step 1. Divide both sides by 9: \[\frac{ 9x }{ 9 } > \frac{ -36 }{ 9 }\] \[\frac{ 9 }{ 9 } = 1x = x\] \[\frac{ -36 }{ 9 } = -4\] \[Answer: x > -4\]
