what are your awnsers

x < 1/2 x > 1/2 x < 2 x > 2

  • AloneS
geez guys i'm asking the steps

  • anonymous
well you got the awnser ;)
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
lets change the inequality sign to an equal for a sec 12x=22+x do you know how to solve for x ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
umm yeah so far i got x=2
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
how did you get that what was your first step ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
well i isolated 11x =22
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
how did you get 11x ?? :=))
AloneS
  • AloneS
i ..so i subtracted 12 from 22.. geez i made it more confusing
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
12-22= isn't 11
AloneS
  • AloneS
yeah it's 10
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
\[\rm 12x< 2+x\] to solve for x you need to get all x's term on one side of the inequality sign
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
so to move x to the left side what would you do ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
umm..my bad ..i think i should take 12 cuz it's with x and 12x-x?
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
yep in order to get x to the left side you should subtract x both sides and remember x is same as 1x so 12x-x <22 now simplify combine like terms
AloneS
  • AloneS
oh i actually don't know
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
combine like terms 12x-x= ????
AloneS
  • AloneS
12x-x(1) will be 11 O_o i understand ,now i see where you get 11
AloneS
  • AloneS
wait so what is my next step @Nnesha
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
right so 11x<22 now to isolate x how would you get rid of 11 ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
so i think umm..wait how do i get rid of x??
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
you need to keep the x at left side to solve for x you should move 11 to the right side remember we need x itself at left side
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
it's 11 times x in order to cancel out the 11 what would you do ? would add 11 subtract divide or multiply ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
i guess i 'l take 2
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
what do you mean ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
11x<22?
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
yes after subtracting x both sides we get 11x < 22
AloneS
  • AloneS
so i guess it should be 2??
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
how did you get 2? how did you cancel out the 11 ?
AloneS
  • AloneS
cuz 2*11 isn't it's 22
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
remember it's `11 times x` to cancel out 11 you should do opposite of multiplication
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
that's correct (when u know the answer choices )
AloneS
  • AloneS
ummm i a :/ctually didn't look thrue answer choices
AloneS
  • AloneS
yeah i guess it's C
AloneS
  • AloneS
thx @Nnesha very much>3!!now i can solve another one on my own!!
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
yes but 11x<22 you should divide both sides to cancel out 11 and remember when we divide or multiply by negative sign we must flip the inequality sign for example \[-2x \color{Red}{<}6 \] to solve for xx you should divide both sides by `-2` \[x \color{reD}{>} -3\] bec i divided both sides by negative number is i flipped the fraction `<` to `>`
Nnesha
  • Nnesha
np!
